At Yurta, we believe that materials are not simply elements to be used, but the very heart of every creation.

Our philosophy is born from a deep conviction: what comes from the earth possesses an intrinsic value that must be respected, protected, and enhanced. This is why we choose exclusively natural raw materials, carefully selected, crafted with artisanal techniques, and designed to last over time.

All of our materials come from Kazakhstan. The wool originates there, and every phase of production—washing, preparation, felting, shaping, and finishing—takes place there before each piece is imported into Italy. Nothing is industrial. Nothing is mass-produced. Each object is handcrafted by real people, guardians of knowledge rooted in the nomadic tradition of the steppes.

Softness and Tradition

Wool has always been a symbol of protection and warmth. In the Eurasian steppes, where summers are scorching and winters are long and snowy, wool was not a luxury, but a vital necessity.

Nomadic families used it to make clothing, blankets, rugs, and essential items for daily life. Since these artifacts were constantly transported during migrations, they had to be extremely durable. Over time, Kazakh artisans perfected extraordinary techniques, passing down from generation to generation a mastery capable of making every object durable and reliable in any climatic condition.

Each creation was embellished with decorative motifs linked to ancient traditions, symbols of identity that told stories of origin and belonging.

Today, in our rugs and textiles, we find the same natural strength: wool is heat-insulating, breathable, durable, and incredibly versatile. Each thread woven with care creates textures that are not merely decorative, but true hand-woven tales.

Every color we choose is never random. We favor natural dyes, obtained through environmentally friendly processes, which enhance the material without obscuring its original beauty. Handcrafted finishes make each piece unique: small variations in tone and texture are not defects, but the hallmark of a living, authentic, and one-of-a-kind product.

Why we choose natural materials

For us, the choice of materials is a declaration of intent:
• Durability → we want products that will accompany families over time, without losing quality.
• Sustainability → reducing environmental impact means respecting the earth that offers us its resources.
• Authenticity → every natural material carries with it a soul that no industrial process can replicate.

For us, the choice of materials is a statement of intent:

• Durability → We want products that accompany families over time.
• Sustainability → Reducing environmental impact means respecting the earth that provides us with its resources.
• Authenticity → Every natural material possesses a soul that no industrial process can replicate.

Wood, wool, and natural fibers were the fundamental elements for building and furnishing the yurts of the Kazakh steppes. Today, those same materials allow us to bring not just decorative objects, but fragments of an ancient culture, into contemporary homes.

Every color we choose is never accidental. We favor natural dyes, obtained through environmentally friendly processes, which enhance the material without masking its original beauty. Small variations in tone and texture are not defects, but the hallmark of an authentic, living, and unique product.
